Lake Wilderness Citizen Advisory Committee

Maple Valley City Council is recruiting individuals who are interested in volunteering to serve on the 2018/19 Lake Wilderness Citizen Advisory Committee to work with staff on the implementation of the aquatic plant management program and related activities for Lake Wilderness.  The purpose of the Citizen Advisory Committee is to represent such interests to the City Council and:  (1) each spring, discuss with the City the proposed annual work program consistent with Ordinance No. O-98-57 and the 2004 Lake Wilderness Integrated Aquatic Plant Management Plan (or its successors); (2) provide input and suggestions to the City regarding the implementation of an annual work program; (3) work with the City in the preparation of any educational materials related to Lake Wilderness and the surrounding watershed; (4) review and provide input on the preparation of an annual report to the City Council, City Manager, and the Lake Wilderness Preservation Association regarding progress on the Lake Wilderness Watershed work program and the health of the lake; and (5) support a public meeting to brief the public on the annual report and related Lake Wilderness Watershed activities.

The 2018/19 vacant positions open are for two regular voting members and one (or more) Alternate non-voting members.  All appointees will serve a two-year term beginning January 2018 through December 31, 2019.  Citizen members must reside in, or be property owners of property, within the corporate City limits.  The Committee is comprised of five voting members and one or more non-voting alternate members. Three of the voting members are citizen members; the other two voting members are one representative from King County Department of Natural Resources and one representative from the City of Maple Valley. 

Applications are available on the City’s website at www.maplevalleywa.gov, under City Government/ Citizen Boards, Commissions, and Committee/ Lake Wilderness Citizen Advisory Committee, or at City Hall, 22017 SE Wax Road, Suite 200, or by calling City Hall at 425-413-8800.  Applicants will be asked to meet with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for a short interview.  Applications are due Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 5:00 PM.

Citizen members are appointed by the Mayor, subject to the consensus of the City Council.  The Committee will meet a minimum of four evenings each year at a date and time convenient to the Committee members.  For additional information contact:
