Jurors serving Maple Valley Municipal Court are summoned randomly and must be residents of King County.

If you received a Jury Summons from Maple Valley Municipal Court you must call the Jury Information Line at 253-856-6767 for further instructions.

Do not report to the Court unless instructed to do so.

YOUR APPEARANCE IS MANDATORY. IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR, CONTEMPT PROCEEDINGS MAY BE BROUGHT AGAINST YOU. IT IS A CRIME FOR ANY PERSON SUMMONED FOR JURY SERVICE TO INTENTIONALLY FAIL TO APPEAR AS DIRECTED (RCW 2.36.170).

Excusal from jury service is limited and shall be allowed only upon a showing of undue hardship, extreme inconvenience, public necessity, or other reason deemed sufficient by the court for a period of time the court deems necessary (RCW 2.36.100). Please read your Jury Summons for information regarding how to request an exemption from Jury Service.

About the Court

The Maple Valley Municipal Court has exclusive original jurisdiction over all criminal misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, traffic infractions and parking violations arising under state statutes and city ordinances.

The Judge is appointed for a four year term by the Maple Valley City Council, is the principal officer of the Court and has the authority to render findings and lawful judgments in all cases. The Municipal Court is a court of limited jurisdiction which hears cases involving violations, including, but not limited to: criminal misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor charges, criminal traffic, traffic infractions and parking violations that occur in the City of Maple Valley. 

The Maple Valley Municipal Court does not accept filings for small claims or civil cases, protection or restraining orders. For information about these types of cases, please contact the King County District Court, 206-205-9200, or visit http://www.kingcounty.gov/courts/districtcourt.aspx.  
 

Jail Services 

The City of Maple Valley contracts with the City of Kent for jail services, but also contracts with the Cities of Issaquah and Okanogan, and King County for jail services.

The City of Maple Valley contracts with Jennifer Batts for domestic violence advocate services. Ms. Batts can be reached at 206-271-9280.
