City Seeks Economic Development Commission Members
The Maple Valley City Council is currently recruiting four individuals who have economic development experience to serve as an Economic Development Commissioner. Each of the open positions must fill one of the following areas of expertise:
- Local School District
- Higher Education Institution
- Workforce Development; Small Business Development Center; Human Resources or a Staffing Agency
- Tourism Attraction; Event; or an Event Venue
Two of the four open Commission positions are currently filled by individuals who will serve out the remainder of their two-year term which ends in December 2019, however, both of them can re-apply for the same Commission position. Should both of these individuals be selected again by the City Council, they will begin serving their new terms in January 2020. The two remaining vacant positions to be filled by individuals selected by the Council, will begin serving their terms as early as November 2019.
The Economic Development Commission makes recommendations to City Council by researching and studying topics related to economic development. In addition, the Commission will provide an annual report to the Council to ensure transparency. The Commission meets monthly on the third Tuesday of the month from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Maple Valley City Hall, 22017 SE Wax Road, Suite 200. All meetings are open to the public.

The deadline for those wishing to be considered is Thursday, October 3, 2019 by 5:00 p.m. Applicants will attend a Council Meeting in order to be interviewed by City Council. The scheduled interview dates are: October 14th, October 28th and November 4th, 2019.
