The purpose of the Parks & Recreation Commission is to work with City staff as it studies matters pertaining to parks, open space, natural areas, trails, and recreational facilities and programs for the purposes of informing, advising, or recommending certain actions to the City Council.
There are seven members (7) of the Parks & Recreation Commission. Appointments to the Commission are made by the Mayor, with confirmation by the City Council. Applicants must be residents of the City of Maple Valley. All Commission members shall serve three-year terms.
In addition, there is one Parks & Recreation Commission Alternate who attends Park & Recreation Commission meetings and may be selected to fill a Commissioner position which becomes vacant due to reasons other than term expiration.

The Parks & Recreation Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month at the Lake Wilderness Lodge, 22500 SE 248th St., Maple Valley. All meetings are open to the public.

An Annotated Agenda that shows formal action taken by the Commission at each business meeting will be posted to the website as soon as feasible following each Commission meeting. Once the formal Minutes of each meeting have been approved by the Commission, the approved Minutes will be posted and the Annotated Agenda removed.

The City of Maple Valley is recruiting individuals who are interested in volunteering to serve a three-year term on the Parks & Recreation Commission.
The seven-member Commission meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm at the Lake Wilderness Lodge. Applicants must reside in within the incorporated City limits. Members are interviewed and appointed by Maple Valley Council.
The volunteers selected to serve on the Commission will work with City staff as it studies matters pertaining to parks, open space, natural areas, trails, and recreational facilities and programs for the purposes of informing, advising, or recommending certain actions to the City Council.
