The City of Maple Valley Community Development Department announces new hours for the Permit Office!
Effective Monday, April 2, 2018 the Permit Office will be open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM. You are encouraged to arrive prior to 4 PM to allow sufficient time to process your application. Our office is closed weekends, as well as for all federally observed holidays.
Please feel free to call us 425-413-8800 to confirm our Permit counter hours, as they may temporarily be changed and/or reduced based on staffing and availability.
Maple Valley has seen rapid residential growth and permitting activity in recent years; in 2011 the City was assigned a growth target of 2,382 new housing units to be built by the year 2031, the City is on pace to meet and likely exceed that number by 2021.
On Monday, November 27th, the Maple Valley City Council passed an ordinance enacting interim zoning regulations related to multi-family dwelling units such as apartments and condominiums in the Town Center and Community Business zones. The interim zoning ordinance temporarily halts permitting of new multi-family projects for a period of up to six months with the exception of a maximum of 200 new units in the Community Business zone.
City Council will vote in May to either extend or end this interim zoning regulation, or to pursue new allowable densities and or dimensions in Town Center and Community Business zones.
