Volunteer Program

The City of Maple Valley has three volunteers that work for the police department on various projects. All three volunteers had to first pass a background check and application process similar to what police officer candidates are required to pass.

The volunteers provide hundreds of hours to this city each year towards various projects that would otherwise have to be abandoned or completed by police officers. This saves taxpayer money and allows officers to focus on patrol and public safety concerns.

Some of these projects include: calling crime victims to ensure their satisfaction with the investigation and inquire if any new evidence was discovered, entering case reports into our department's data base, calling defendants and witnesses to remind them of court dates, and attending various community events on behalf of the city.
