This project provides annual funding for the City’s pavement management program. Based on an annual review of the condition of the City’s roadways, a road segment or segments are selected for repair or overlay to maintain the integrity of the City’s street system. In late 2012, the City adopted a Transportation Benefit District to fund various transportation improvements; funded by a $20 vehicle license fee. The City started collecting the fee mid 2013 monthly with a distribution from the State of Washington. The annual collection amounts are typically $325,000.
2018 Scheduled Overlay Locations:
The City contracts with King County to perform pavement overlays as part of a City wide program. This year it has been difficult to schedule paving, partly because backlogs created by the Operating Engineers Union (Seattle Crane workers) strike earlier this year. At this time, King County is scheduling 2-3 days of paving operations between October 10th and October 19th, depending on appropriate weather, on the following streets, listed above, in this neighborhood.
King County is making every attempt to accomplish this paving work this year. However, weather and paving crew availability may require paving effort to delay until next spring if the paving season window is missed.
