Tahoma Way will be Closed Starting Monday, July 2, 2018 Through Most of the Summer
Starting the morning of Monday, July 2, 2018, the contractor building the new roundabout for the Overlook Plat, Summit Ball Park, and East Entrance to high school will close down Tahoma Way to do the construction work. The road will stay closed to traffic until the start of the school in September. However it will open for a couple of events the school has planned on August 15th and 16th. The contractor will provide pedestrian access for some of the students that walk or ride a bike to activities from the King County Trail. The pedestrian route may change from time to time during the work and concrete pours, but safe routes will always be provided into the school for them. A detour route will be installed with signs directing the traveling public to the west parking lot entrance off of 228th Avenue SE at Bear Boulevard.
Thank you for your patience, and sorry for the disruption, however there is no way the contractor would get close enough to completion without the closure. Final elements of the project may not be done by the start of the school year, and at that time work will need to be phased to not disrupt school bus, and parent drop offs, or pick-ups.
For any questions, please contact Tom Bowen, Maple Valley Construction Inspector, at 206-391-8160.
