Maple Valley has begun an update to its Parks, Recreation, Arts, & Open Space Plan. The new plan will establish a path forward for providing high quality, community-driven parks, trails, natural areas, public art and recreation offerings in Maple Valley for the coming six years. The current Plan (2013-2019) was adopted in early 2014 and has been an important guide for growing Maple Valley’s park and recreation system.

Citizen input is crucial to ensure recreational goals and priorities are consistent with community needs and desires. There will be several opportunities for you to participate in the Parks, Recreation, Arts & Open Space Plan (PRAOS) update, including a community survey (completed August 2, 2019), public meetings, stakeholder discussions and an online community forum. This process gives us an excellent opportunity to identify ways in which to best serve the recreational needs of our growing community over the next six years.

The review and adoption of the updated PRAOS Plan is anticipated for February 2020.   Check back soon for more information about public meetings and other outreach.

If you have questions or comments about the PRAOS Plan update, contact Dave Johnson, Parks & Recreation Director at or (425) 432-9953.
